With the Saint Louis Science Center as a partner, the goal of this assignment was to create a science exhibit and a supporting second piece. After my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer, I chose to expand my knowledge on this project so that I could better understand what she is experiencing. Due to the lack of healthcare resources, many women of color and Hispanic heritage diagnosed with breast cancer receive treatment at a less curable stage. This inspired me to dive deeper into spreading the awareness of just that. It is important to treat it early before it is too late. Not many people think about how men can get breast cancer too, so the animation is meant for people to send to the men in their lives to show them how they too can check themselves for breast cancer before it is too late to treat.
In this eleven panel exhibit, viewers will learn what symptoms to look out for and how to self-examine themselves, the processes of the different stages of breast cancer, and the different types of treatment.
